Started fishing at 4pm, feeder fishing halibut pellets and hemp. Not a lot happened until 7pm when started to get knocks but no proper bites. Changed to sweetcorn and hooked a 7lb 10oz barbel. Added 3 Chub to 3lb, plus a couple of lost fish. River low and clear, very good access to swims paths cut and steps down to river.

Beat:Middle Ballingham & Fownhope No.8

Fishing:All Species (in season)

No. of Anglers:1

All caught trotting a variety of baits, largest went 4.5lbs. Moved to feeder for barbel, none showed. The whole river from all points between Ross and Hereford badly out of sorts, feel sure it's down to the weather and very delayed spawning for all species. Normally the margins are alive with fry but this year there's nothing.

A quiet day, with one barbel of 6lbs 12oz saving me from disaster at 6pm. It seems the barbel are still spawning, and very few fish were evident in this stretch today.

1 barbel caught, 1 lost. Beautiful beat - completely agree with previous comments though - some slightly more accessible/prepared swims on the lower part of beat would be great.

A lovely day fishing on this particularly spectacular beat, but nothing seen or caught. Water may have been too warm at 62 degs. Not hot enough to stop the may fly from hatching which they periodically did in amazing numbers.

Beat:Courtfield

Only 1 barbel caught from the Courtfield stretch early on at the downstream end of the beat. The water was sluggish and confidence low. After a coversation with Don we moved to the Wyebank strech further downstream where the water was faster. We had 11 Barbel to 9lb. A fantastic day. When the water is low fish the faster water! Definitely worth getting there for dawn and fishing until dusk. There's times for naps during the quiter period in the afternoon! Don is a fantastically helpful gentleman. All fish fell to groundbait feeder and pellet.
