First of five days fishing on WUF waters. The river looked quite low but still fished well enough. We ended up with 3 barbel and 25 chub, all caught on pellets and boillies. All in all a very enjoyable day.

Too windy to do what I really wanted to do today which was floater fish for carp. Plenty of roach and perch on the float though and a lovely golden rudd.

The Monnow is nearly always kind to me but today she was off form. Not a fish showing, careful searching of the likely spots, all to no avail. Oh well, thats my trouting on the Wye system done for this year. Back for a salmon trip next sunday. Hope she is kinder.

5lb 2oz chub and one Barbel of 2lb or so though, very thin throughout it's body, gaunt in fact, both from Legg meadow. An expensive couple of fish in that I didn't get there til 6pm, other venues taking my attention, and anyhows it would have been a bit tight and too cosy for me with the other 3 anglers, nice chaps chatting to them, as I'm pretty sure we would all have ended up on Legg Meadow swims in the Summer levels conditions. Last of the balmy evenings too, (please being on the rain!) but after two good fish lost, one close-in to a bent hook which must have been a dud, and another to a hook pull powering off on the far bank, then two rigs lost to snags, it was time to call time.

First time on the Lugg and what a lovely feature packed stretch it is. We only fished for the morning on our way back home, so didn't really get to explore as much as we would like. Bright sunshine again but 4 Chub caught, 2 being good 5 pounders, definately want to return and do this beat more justice. The Foundations service spot on once again, thanks!

On Sunday we only had a half day available as we had a long journey back to Oxfordshire. Unfortunately we were unable to fish the water because moving upstream from Llangoed Pool there is only slow water which can only be reach by boat. After aproximately 1 mile the water gets interesting. Unfortuneately, there were 4 course fishing rods already occupying the rest of this water. Subsequent enquiries by Alyson from the booking office traced the elderly landowner down and he confirmed that he also lets the water to a course fishing club. Alyson very kindly reimbursed our monies.
We did however have a good day on the Saturday on the lower beat. I caught 9 trout, 3 of which were 12" and 1 fish at 10.5" with the rest around 8-9" all taken on a dry fly with a 10" greyling also. My fishing partner also had 6 fish to a Copper John nymph.

Spent a couple of hours tiptoeing up this pretty stream. Nothing hatching and nothing rising apart from the odd juvenile wbt. Managed to winkle one out on an Adams and missed several lightening quick snatches. Obviously hit this stream at the wrong time as in spite of its diminutive size there are plenty of surprisingly deep pools that no doubt hold a good head of trout.
Will give it another go earlier in the season next time around.

Came to the lower section, having been beaten to the upper by another angler. River low and clear on a sunny day. Fished a single Copper John with an indicator. Blanked, not even a tug. The few fish seen moving were under 3". Hats off to any angler who manages to land anything here. Lovely setting nonetheless.

A bright and warm day with river low and clear made conditions difficult. However 3 barbel and two chub were caught - best barbel at just 8lbs.

River running clear at 1' on the gauge. One silvery fish repeatedly showing but no contact all day despite hard fishing. Good day on the river, lack of catch balanced with very pleasant company. Thank you.
