Blew a gale all day. Fished most water. River started rising before lunch & was up to planks just after 4.00pm. Saw two fish but none contacted. It is four years since I last fished this water. The planks have deterated considerably.

Another good day at Abernant. One salmon 10lb caught 7.00pm on a Cascade from Lady's Pool. Fished all day and had to wait until the end, but it was worth it.
Thank-you Wye & Usk.

Arived to find river tearing through, looking like strong tea. We knew it was not going to be easy. Hard to hold bottom despite using 4 and 5lb leads. Took all day to catch a 5 lbs barbel.
Beautiful stretch -will be back when conditions more suitable.

River a very colourful reddish brown after the storms yesterday although dropping slightly during the day. Fished downstream of the hut to take a total of 13 barbel to around 7lb and a couple of small chub so really pleased given the conditions.

The final day of my excursion to the usk. I really enjoyed my day at Glanusk, it had a lovely feel to the beat. Caught plenty of trout (lost count to be honest) biggest to about 13". Like the other beats earlier in the week there was a distinct lack of rising fish so to the nymph i turned. River was quite high and forceful in the streamy sections so a wading staff a must but tricky wading was rewarded by quantity of fish. Various weighted nymphs did the business, below the bridge was a particular hotspot. Thanks to seth for the advice on the beats and thanks to the rest of the team for their good work.
