Fished peg 2 from early morning until approx 2:00pm when all my bait was used up! During the day I landed 7 barbel to 10lb 6oz ( a personal best. All other barbel were in the 7-8lb stamp. Also had 3 decent size chub. All caught during torrential rainstorm. Don very helpful and informative. Can't wait to go back.

My first time on this beat and it is a wonderful location - but I would recommend you travel light as it is quite a hike from the top of the hill.

I found the swim I would have liked to fish, but it was impossible in the conditions on the day.

It had rained heavily overnight and mud from the fields had definitely in to the river - it was well up, running like a train and a dark chocolate brown in colour.

I found a couple of suitable swims, but didn't manage a fish in the first - bite detection was very difficult as there was a lot of debris in the river.

After the move I managed to land 3 decent chub (2 over 5lbs) and finally 4 barbel - the largest of which was just under 10lb.

Had to switch to small (8ml) elipse pellets to get any interest - as usual, 2 glued to a hair-rig with micro pellets in a block-end Drennan flat-back feeder.

Despite very testing fishing conditions and a bit of a treck to and from the car, I will definitely be back - ideally when the river is low and the bottom island is accessible.

My friend and I had never fished the Wye before. We arrived on Wednesday 27th to find the river a light tea tint and high but not raging. We were to fish Thursday to Saturday. Thursday morning we met Ian Boney in a torrential thunder storm to show us around the fishery, by this time the river was up and running chocolate brown. Fished beat 3 and 4 for the rest of the stormy day with little to show for it by way of fish in the net, even though we laced various swims with hemp and and pellets. The second day my friend Ian caught a personal best chub of 4lb.6oz trotting sweet corn in beat 4. On our last day we fished beat 2 and I had 10 chub to 4lb.8oz, all caught long trotting, 9 took luncheon meat and one took bread. Stunningly beautiful river and surroundings with swims in places where there would normally be shingle, grass and willows. Many thanks to Ian Boney for his guidance.

7 barbel to 7lb and a small chub. Spent to much time looking for the parking at the Severn Trent water complex, it is now Costain (builders). As with all 5 beats we fished, we felt a few signs would help. Nice stretch, will be going back.

First time on the Wye and our feeders were not big enough. Still had a nice day with 8 barbel to 8lb 2 chub and an eel. Bailiff was a great help. Long walk to the best swim but worth it.

Fished in the meadow stretch as we had been advised by Don that the river was still a little high for the woods swims. River fining down and looked almost perfect but fishing was very slow compared with yesterdays results. Finished with 6 barbel and 11 chub topped by a 9lb 13oz barbel at about 7pm. A lovely looking stretch of river in a very tranquil setting. Will certainly return. Thanks again to Don for his help and encouragement.

Fished from 4:15. With occasional rising fish decided to fish dry. Caught two WBT to 0.5 lbs on CDC Olive emerger and micro midge patterns. Both fish returned. Failed to bring several others to hand.

First outing on the Usk, thanks wuf for the recomendations. Worked hard all day & struggled to catch the 3 fish to 8 ins by 1800hrs. but then after a tip off from the wuf, evening rises had been good recently. I decided to stay on, good move finshed at 21.45 with 13 to 16ins, the last ten all being a good size & taken off the top on a h/e emergers.
good fishing, great surroundings, fantastic advice, thanks
