River at 3' on the Fownhope gauge and well over the croys on the beat. Started fishing at the bottom of the beat around lunchtime and retrieved two set lines which were very well tied with coated braid hooklinks, Gardner mugger hooks and meat screws on the hairs. Moved up to the pylon run and wound in a somewhat rougher looking set line. I caught half a dozen barbel and a similar number of chub. Two of the barbel had very nasty tears to their lips, it's possible that they may have broken off an angler and then become tethered before ripping the hook free but I suspect it may have had something to do with the set lines. After a pleasant day I made my way back to the car, which I had parked on the hard standing inside the gate, and found that the cows had attempted to clean it for me by licking the exterior of the vehicle, leaving great tongue swirls across the windows and panels. Good job I'd come in the wife's car!
It concerns me a little that these catch reports are a pretty good indication to the poachers of where to fish. It may be wise to make them viewable only to those registered with the foundation booking office.

2 wbt, 6-7 inches, 1 salmon parr, gh ptn, strong downstream wind, combined with low alders (touching the water in places - re- coppicing reqd?) made fishing pretty frustrating. Thanks to rain, water in very good order. Why at least two barbed wire fences across the stream? The banks are fenced anyway!! Wet leg from punctured waders as a result. Difficult to see the wire amongst accumulated debris, how often are the beats inspected? quite an expensive day!

Had a great day fishing for barbel on the Wyebank beat, conditions were not easy with the water level up, running fast and plenty of colour. I caught 12 barbel with the biggest being 11lb 12oz, a big long lean fish.... Would like to catch it at its winter weight! Also had 4 chub. Booked an extra rod for a friend who caught 5 barbel and 6 chub. All fish were caught on halibut pellets and feeding a mixture of sizes in PVA bags, fishing in the deeper runs and slower water. Very enjoyable and look forward to my next visit.

The river was running a little high however my friend and I still managed to catch six barbel (Three each) and five chub. Barbel from five to seven pounds in weight. All caught on pellet, fishing the barbel bomb method. All fish came from fishing up close to over hanging bushes. My first barbel came within ten seconds of fishing, fastest caught fish of my life! We had an absolute fantastic time fishing our first time on the wye. We both look forward to coming back to fish the Wye very soon.

A pleasure, as always, to fish this beat. We caught 16 Barbel over the two days from 3lb up to just under 9lb, so a solid if unspectacular result. Strangely no sign of any Chub at all (I'm not complaining however!).
The river rose quickly on Sunday afternoon, which seemed to switch the fish off completely. As soon as it stopped rising a few hours later the activity resumed.
