Two small brown trout (approx 6 inches)caught on parachute adams, both returned. A number of other takes on a size 20 GRHE, but nothing successfully landed. Conditions very difficult due to strong wind. Despite this I observed some limited hatches of various olives and a few rises.

Looked at the river the night before and it was just under 2' and looking realy good for the morning, but when I got there with a rod it had gone up another 6" or so over night. Colour was still good however and it did drop back quickly during the day so I hung around and fished a bit in the late afternoon without success.

Arrived at Wye Bank at 11am, to find river approximately 3 ft up and a nice redy brown colour. Myself and my friend John fished the two swims behind the first 2 cribs, in the slacker water on the inside run. We had a total of 8 Barbel, 5 Chub and 1 eel.

Sunday 1st July - River had dropped to approximately 2ft started fishing 5pm, we had a total of 9 Barbel and 13 Chub.

Thanks to Don, very helpful.
