5 grayling, 0 trout. Weather was perfect for March, no wind and rising to 16c although the water was still cold. The river was at 12in, again perfect for this beat. The water was gin clear and the fish easily spooked. There was a steady hatch from 11 to 3 but the fish were reluctant to rise this early in the season.
We saw a number of very small trout, but the bigger fish were probably still in the depths. The grayling were more obliging - the largest fish was 1.5lb.

Good days fishing, Very quiet to start but at 1230 the sun came out and had three brown trout in quick succession in the Bridge pool. All returned. Then too good a lunch to return to fish in the PM. Thanks.

Very low water on a cloudy day. This cloud eventually lifted by about 1pm to turn the day into a sunny, bright afternoon. Fished a fair amount of the beat with the fly, but didn't have a touch from any salmon. Used the spinner in a few of the pools as well, and managed to interest a couple of Pike and one large chub. Didn't see any signs of salmon, which was disappointing. Rain needed.

Fantastic day on this lovely stretch of water. Water levels were low which enabled ease of wading but the bed rock was very slippery. 6 WBT caught, mostly small, but one rather nice fish of 10" long. Will return.

15lb salmon caught on size 8 double Tosh at approx 0915hrs from bottom pool Wyebank - I was certain there would be fish in the bottom pool, despite it being fished a few times with no takers, and was well rewarded. I waded the wharf pool to find that after owning this water for over 18 years my work to enhance the wharf pool in 1994 was finally showing fruit with a 10 yard slab of yellow limestone bedrock having been cleaned of gravel and stone in last winter's flood, to make a wonderful lie and nearly a foot deeper. As I waded towards the top end of the pool with 4ft of water at 4" plus below summer level, a big 20 plus salmon turned out of the lie and swam slowly away downstream past me. An awesome sight.
