The number recording on the form is not clear however I caught 10 wild browns mostly on a gold head hairs ear nymph. There was a big hatch of buzzers towards evening and I did manage a couple on a small Griffiths gnat but they were very particular.

Parachute Adams type flies, worked well but only in places where fish were seen to be rising. River clear and quite low. Beautiful sunny day, plenty of flies hatching but very limited areas where fish were active.

We only managed to get halfway up the beat since there were so many rising fish which continued for for most of the day. We missed many but found some good fish in the deeper pools and in the shade along the banks. The water level was good but could do with a bit of rain. Lots of dippers, grey wagtails and distant woodpecker. Great day out.

Very hot and river low, fished afternoon in bright sunshine. Not the greatest combination! However fish were rising in the Bronllys Castle area, though I only fished upstream from the footbridge. Two takes to a dry fly, both missed, plus a few rises too difficult to cast to.
