Nice stretch of river, could do with a serious clean up. All the trout stocked fish around the pound mark, and caught on dry. Nice hatch of fly. Looked like Ldo and some olive upwrights.

Fished between 10.30 am and 3pm. River in great condition. No fish rising to dry fly. One pull on Olive nymph. No fish landed.

Interesting stretch of river. I fished the Merthyr stretch near the retail park, its lovely water. Around 2pm there was a good few Ldo and olive uprights, found a nice pool with one or two fish taking flies. I had three and lost a couple, all browns around the pound mark, all stocky's.
It would be good to have a clean up on this stretch there is a lot of rubbish all along the river.

Good day on the river, no Salmon seen, river looked ready for some.
Trout rod came out once for the Grannom coming off in the occasional sunshine, rewarded with 3 brownies in fantastic condition.

Started fishing early Saturday morning on beat 6, second cast hooked in to a nice trout (possibly sea trout? around 2lb but nothing else happened for the rest of the day. Conditions where perfect for the fly so it was a nice day out. Thanks to the Wye and Usk Foundation and Terry for the information provided.

Fishing made very difficult due to high winds; spent the day casting backwards! Still, always a pleasure to fish this lovely stretch of water. Will be back (again).

Seth at WUF suggested Abernant as a good beat for high water and he was spot on. This is a beautiful stretch of water and almost all suitable to fly fishing. Sadly, no salmon seen but I fish through the tail of Abernant Catch where I caught four trout in quick succession - not much of a feat on the salmon rod I know but one of around 3lbs put up a great fight. An enjoyable day notwithstanding the 3 and half hour drive!

The river is still carrying some colour and I didn't see a rise all day. Found one perfect 6 inch fish in the weir pool. Some tree clearing has been carried out on the lower half of the beat which makes access much easier.
