Got there about 7am. Some fish moving on the top, mainly smallish carp. Hot day slight breeze. Two carp caught 6 - 8lb on sweetcorn. As day progressed fish became increasingly shy. Water very shallow 3 - 4ft muddy red in colour due to surrounding soil type. Nice pool but not easy to fish. Enjoyable day.

Fished below the town. The evening produced a few plucks from small brown trout. Not having up to date local knowledge of the beats was a bit of a disadvantage. An enjoyable evenings fishing nonetheless.

It was a very hot day (24 degrees) and I fished for about three hours, between 1pm and 4pm. Fish were moving throughout the afternoon and feeding on the surface in the margins, although flies fished there I failed to tempt any. I changed to a weighted (red) nymph which did the trick. I had several plucks at it and two fish that actually connected. The fish are very distinctive in their markings. Worth the trip just to see them!

Feeder fished for barbel. Caught first fish within 5 minutes, 7lb. Other fish between 5lb and 6lb. River low and clear, bright sunlight. Fished different pegs and only caught on one peg. Really enjoyed the day, looking forward to returning in the near future. The access to this stretch is excellent as you can drive your car to any peg along the river. Highly recommended.

Myself and a friend fished the Upper Taf Fawr today. River was running very low and gin clear as you would expect with the lack of rain. Plenty of fly life, bwo's, ldo's and even the odd few brook dunns still. we managed to catch half a dozen fish each on single dry fly/Klinkhammers picking pocket water.

Some parts looked too deep to wade so I didn't wade through but chose places where it was easier to enter, or fished from the edge. What a contrast to the shallower Grwynne Fawr that I visited last time! Although I saw little surface activity, the trout were willing enough to rise to dry flies. Four wbt to 8 inches. It was only a 3 hour session as the bright warm day unexpectedly turned very wet.

All fish caught on Halibut pellets/feeder tactics. I fished a swim opposite the island about halfway along. I had one barbel early on, a PB of 11lb 2oz and one Chub, then all went quiet. Come early afternoon with only a couple of hours left before I had to pack up and head off home, I moved upstream to where the flow narrows and increases between the nearside bank and the shingle bar that runs out from the island. I fished the crease behind the shingle bar and was in to a fish as soon as the feeder hit bottom and from there on it was almost a fish a chuck for the short time I had left. A word of warning to anyone who fishes this swim the bank is very steep and in wet weather would be dangerous. Also, as you cant see upstream the canoes are on you before you know it and they pass right under your feet.
