Excellent conditions for our target species - Barbel. The stretch looked fantastic, but the fish just weren't there. We fished the full length (both sides of the wood) without a bite. No fish were seen either. I managed a small chub right at last knockings, but that was our only bite of the day. Very disappointed.

In pretty overcast and still conditions, I managed to get a few hours in during the morning and early afternoon before the forecast rain drew a halt to the proceedings at 2pm. Some sedges and stonefly, and small olives around from the off and a few fish eventually began to rise - some of those caught were risers and others not. Grayling were mainly in the 13-14" class but two were 16 and 17" fish to 1.75lb. Dropped a couple of trout on a HE emerger and caught another on a PTN. All grayling caught on a small dark olive Ducks Dun. Must go fishing on Friday the 13th again (but hopefully next time for rather longer)!

Bright and sunny conditions to start with. Fished in the first field. River low and clear; no action until the evening. By then the rain had started falling. One Pike (5lbs) on luncheon meat and 2 Barbel, 6lb 12oz & 5lb 12oz on Elips pellets. All taken to feeder tactics. By the end of the session the rain was torrential and we struggled to get up the extremely slippery banks. The path through the woods was running like a river with wash-off from the road, which added to the fun! Given the forecast of more rain for the weekend, the river should be in a much better condition for fishing next week.

One big chub bouncing meat down the faster water and my first ever barbel on a feeder. If it didn't go double figures, it wasnt far off! Very happy. Both taken on luncheon meat. Lovely beat but weather didn't allow a full exploration so I will definitely be back. Saw a few Salmon showing at the tail of Vanstone.

Weather very wet - rained all day. Water level rather low. Fished from 2.30pm to 6pm. Only catch was a tiddler about twice the length of my gold head nymph which would have fitted easily in a jam jar. No trout seen and no trouty takes on any of my nymphs.
Combination of severely eroded banks and strong growth of shrubbery made it very difficult to walk along the stream on the water-side of the fencing. Several fallen trees impede access to some pools.
The flash appearance of a kingfisher brightened the day.
