2 salmon caught, first took a yellow Flamethrower, size 9 at 9am at the upper part of Abernant steam. Fish was about 9lbs. Second fish was caught at Lady Alexanders Catch at 1pm and took a orange Flamethrower, size 9 and weighed about 14lbs. The best 25 quid I have ever spent!!!

Early start to find height perfect but a bit of unexpected colour clearing through the day. Fellow rod Steve took a fish later which showed my timing or competence was the issue - probably the latter !

River levels were up from the rivers average level and visibility was not great due to heavy rainfall a few days prior to us fishing. We caught trout and grayling on both nymphs and dry flies. A nice day out. 8 brown trout and 9 grayling caught in total.

Blank. Well, this didn't pan out. Abernant usually stands up well to high water and, whether there are salmon about or not, has some glorious fly water to fish down. Cunningly, as I thought, I booked myself on late the night before when the rain had finished and the gauge showed just a very modest rise. But I arrived in the early morning to find the water up another 18 inches and the colour of Bourneville cocoa. Persevered with the spinning rod until lunchtime.

River dropping and clearing as day went on but no salmon seen but did manage two small brown trout. Great day in great surroundings.

28inch (9lbs est) slightly coloured hen fish at 0720 on fly. Spent most of the afternoon and evening chasing Grayling. About dozen came to my hand and I missed 3 times as many on a small fluffy Sedge. Great fun, great day out, thank you!

Arrived to find that river had dropped a foot and was at a perfect 1.5 ft level - but dirty ...aggh! Fished in continuous rain in the hopes that the forecast deluge wouldn't be too heavy and the river would clear just enough before the level went up again. But thats' the trouble nowadays, the forecast is pretty good and lashing rain gives the river up a foot by 5pm and colouring up more.
Plenty of trout to the spinner but no sight or sound of Salmon. Regardless another enjoyable day
