There was a little too much water on the beat to begin with and it was slightly tinted. Spent the morning, from early 2º and bitter wind, fishing through the fly runs; Abernant Stream, Lady Alexander's Catch and Stone Catch. Covered all three with two different flies and nothing. Friday 13th I guess!

Cold downstream didn't help much today but managed to winkle a few out on gold bead nymph and spider. A few long distance releases too.

Got on about midday after a long drive. Water lowish, a bit coloured but looking very fishable. Weather overcast & very warm with storms in the air. High sticked a Czech nymph duo up Lady Alexander’s Catch and fetched a couple of knocks until mid-way up when I pulled out a feisty WBT from shallower water. Didn’t stay on!
Sat down for a snack and drink and the sun emerged with some sparse insect life so I started to ponder a dry.
As I sat watching the water it rose by 6 inches in as many minutes! That push of muddy water turned off the fish for the rest of the day so I pulled a bit of balsam.

Another decent day on this lovely beat. Fished my usual method of spiders with a gold head hares ear on the point across and down. Eight wild brown trout all small, and one specimen grayling of eighteen inches caught along the while of the beat. See photo. Just a passing observation on catch return info by others. We're all flyfishers why not say what flies and methods you used rather just how many you caught.

River below one foot at Llanstephan. Fished with spiders with a gold head flashback hars ear on the point. Had two brownies on the bottom part of the beat, and five brownies and a grayling on the top section. Lost a few and had quite a few lightning pulls and failed to connect. Unlike my last visit none of the brownies were big. Early afternoon really cold gusty wind got up, and quite literally everything stopped. Decided to leave it there at that point. I tend to always use the same set up of spiders across and down and it pretty much catches fish right through to November.
