Another short session down here. A lot slower than previous visits this season. Not a touch in the first few hours which I’ve found very unusual on this venue especially lack of chub activity. As the light faded had 2 barbel within 2 casts one of them was a recap of a fish I had in Aug. Happy with that also zero canoes bonus.
Still a big shame over half of this beat is inaccessible. I appreciate the Wye is a wild venue and has a SSSI & SAC status but that’s why a lot of anglers fish the river, but are you the W&U able to do anything as in liaise with the landowner as I believe he/she is the only one able to apply for SSSI consent to subtly open up a few more areas just a suggestion

First cast my first wye double!!!!! Then fished difficult in every swim despite pirming then and fishing in rotation.. i fished the fast water for a hour in the float to. I ended up losing a barbel and caught 3 chub and one perch on meat!!! A great day had it to myself. A special moment that double in the mist
