Very nice we didn't have to rely on the farmer to get us to the river as was the case several years ago. Driving to the river was a real bonus. The usual swim opposite the old boat house didn't produce for us this trip and was more overgrown than usual indicating others have found the same. An Otter was spotted on the far bank which may be contributing to its poor form.
Always a spectacular scenic beat this one with lots of different character swims.

Beautiful day, river up in the morning and training through. Started top of the beat and found fish mid afternoon further down. 4 barbel to 9lbs 12 oz lost 2 unfortunately. River was carrying a bit of extra water and plenty of colour. Lovely beat, fish were in immaculate condition. Had a great day, as always.

Tough day after yesterday’s high, barbel first cast but not a tap all day for three of us. Beautiful spot to have a quiet day though. River desperately needs some rain.

Low water and comparatively slow flow meant then fish were well spaced out. Finished with two pike to the net, one small and one mid double. Both falling to lures and a roving approach.

River fairly slow and very clear. All fish taken on luncheon meat. Best barbel just over six pounds and best chub just under six pounds.

We had a good day on Lower Canon Bridge beat. The location is idyllic and the weather was sunny, the river had just come down after the first push of autumn. I think the recent first cold nights put the barbel off a bit, though the chub were still feeding in the faster water at the top of the beat. The two barbel came from lower down. All fish came to meat on the bomb.
