Only fished for a few hours, tried trotting without any joy. The river was very low and the weather was very hot and sunny.

Parking closer to swims this year. 10 mins walk max to more fishable swims. Upper half choked with weed*. Lower part much less but still lost half a dozen feeders and a couple of fish to weed - par for the course. Good to see clearly defined swim access routes down to the bankside - good groundwork by new owner/WUF. Fish in good nick.

Despite losing quite a few fish we still managed to catch a very good amount of barbel with the vast majority of the barbel going to my friend! I caught one on the float which is always a pleasure. A cracking day out!

Back on Lower Canon Bridge for the second day of the season. Once again the deeper areas seemed quiet and the fish came from the shallower areas. Most fish came to a pellet approach and the biggest Barbel over the two days was 9-12, a stunning fish. We all caught (three of us) and had a great day. What a pleasure it is to fish in such a lovely spot and the countryside around Lower Canon is beautiful. The fact that you can now take a 4x4 to the beat is good news and it was difficult to wind in at the end of a very enjoyable two days and head for home. Big thanks to fishery owner and W&U.

Great to be back on Lower Canon Bridge and on the glorious 16th! The river was a bit low but looked stunning. Three of us fished and although very quiet in the morning we did catch a few during the afternoon. Most of the fish were taken opposite the Weir Gardens in the more aerated water. We met the owner who was a good guy and was very interested in the fishery and our impressions (which were all very positive). All in all an excellent day. Thanks W&U.

The river was in flood. Very coloured, very fast with lots of debris. The upstream end of the stretch was unfishable. Lots of snags on the bottom. Managed to find some slack water downstream and caught one barbel of 5lb on meat.

It’s a beautiful bit of river, but the conditions were far from perfect. Looking forward to coming back in the summer.
