Seems like a difficult stretch but it was a very cold morning. Tried all good looking spots with meat but only managed 2 small chub. It maybe a summer/autumn stretch?

After a wet start to the day we arrived for our first day at Lower Cannon Bridge. The fishing turned out to be very hard going with only two Chub caught on Luncheon meat one at 3lb the second just under 3lb.

Another wet start to the day but again turned sunny and warm. My aim for the weekend was to get my son to catch his first Barbel and knowing we were only going to fish until 2:00pm we both fished two swims down to the left of the large gravel swim. We baited with feeder mix and our hook baits were pellet and he caught his first Barbel on his first cast which weighed in at 5lb. He then went to to add one Chub at 3lb 4oz and then his second Barbel of 8lb 5oz. All fish were healthy and in good condition.

Second day on this stretch and like the previous day I was the only rod on the river. Bliss. Similar tactics to the day before, bait dropping pellets and hemp and then fishing swims in rotation.
Caught a quality Barbel of 8lb at midday close to boathouse then followed this up with 2 more Barbel and a nice Chub early evening. All fish were in great condition and the stretch really in a cracker. The walk is a bit of hike so scale down your tackle, or ask the farmer for a lift - I believe he offers a taxi service. A fantastic stretch overall and definitely worth the walk!

I arrived at this picturesque stretch mid-afternoon and spent the first hour wandering and baiting a few likely looking spots. Weather was sunny and clear with the river looked great. I started fishing at 2pm and caught a small Barbel first cast, quickly followed by a Chub. After this early success the swim quieten off so I fished a few of the swims I'd baited earlier, although without any success.
Returning to fish my first swim an hour before dusk, I lost what felt like a good Barbel as the light started to fade. Packed up as night fell and headed off into Hereford for my tea followed by a night sleeping in the car (I must be Mad). I would be back the next day....
Both fish were caught on pellets having bait dropped pellet and hemp 30 mins prior to fishing.

River level dropping during the session after rising during the night following rain. Feeder and pellet used for most of the barbel, biggest weighing in at 7lb 12oz. An 8oz barbel caught on maggot (I can't remember the last time I saw a barbel so small!). Plenty of bites throughout the day. Some reviewers have mentioned the snags. I concur that these can be a problem especially in the swims to the top end of the garden stretch but worth persevering as this is where most of the barbel were caught. It is less snaggy towards the end of the garden stretch and the lower end of the fishery. There are plenty of accessible swims despite the claim of one reviewer and these are marked clearly with wooden posts.
This was the second of two days for our trip and on the previous day when water levels were lower a total of 14 barbel were caught between 3 anglers with the biggest hovering about 8lb.
