Caught 1 fat Chub - 4lbs or so, with a scar across its head where a bird must have attacked it. Had 1 v good take below the electric cables that came to nought, & saw 18 canoes, including a group of 13 all together. Needs another foot of water was my view.

Nothing on the fly rod beyond a couple of pulls early morning, but two small well-mended kelts while spinning deep water. Very hot and bright by midday, and some more water in the river would be very welcome.

We had a most enjoyable day, but only a very well-mended kelt for our efforts caught on a conehead fly in the Vanstone Pool. A very nice part of the Wye to spend a days salmon fishing.

We had a nice days fishing but only a well mended kelt to show for our efforts caught on a cascade conehead. Look forward to fishing Goodrich Court again if only for the surroundings.

No springers, but 2 x well-mended kelts 33 inches and 38 inches, both on Black and Yellow tube fished off fast sink tip. I used to know the lower part of this beat as Middle Hill Court, but the upper part was unknown to me. The whole mile makes an excellent combination with enough water to keep you busy all day, whether fly-fishing or spinning. Plus it's a beautiful and quiet bit of river, what with the castle in the distance and wheeling buzzards, except for the very top where the A40 makes itself heard. I didn't see one canoe - is that some kind of record?

The second a beautiful fish of about 16lbs - very silvery. Lovely day out, nice beat.

No fish caught - despite the bonanza the day before - another case of should have been here yesterday. Had a couple of possible offers in the Stones/Island on the upper portion. A few fish seen moving elsewhere. Some lovely fly water here, I'll certainly be back.
