Like yesterday, a very hot day. The river had dropped overnight so wading was a little more comfortable. I hooked a small fish on a Post Tosh tube fly on the Gabions after lunch but it was probably a small sea trout or brownie which was not on the hook for very long. I saw a similar sized fish jump clear of the water in the same spot shortly after. Other than that, I did not see a fish all day!

A very hot day with the river high. Despite having Mick on hand, fishing was challenging. Tried spinning with a Devon Minnow and even used the fly rod but to no avail! Never saw a fish all day!

Enjoyed my day at Goodrich, river a lot higher than expected -only had fly rods with me but ghillie said it was more suited to spinning, due to river conditions. No fish caught but seen a couple jumping. Will definately try other beats.

River was high but managed to fish most pools with fly and flying C . Lovely day on a super beat but sadly no sign of a fish.

River quite coloured; high but steady in the morning, rose in the afternoon. Fished the The Windmill and The Maddox on the right bank, close in on sinking link and big heavy black Snaelda. Had one rattle but it didn't stick.

Another excellent day with Mick Sutton who knows every inch of the water. Started with a Flying C but fished mostly with a weighted fly on a fast sinking tip, all to no avail. The river rose about 4" during the day and was high to start with (arguably a wash-off) but, going fishing is not only about catching fish. Will be back in May.

Nil return. In my opinion too high and fast for wading/fly. No fish seen.
