River at a good height so concentrated on fly fishing, however the only sight of a salmon came when one rose twice in the Vanstone Pool to a flying c. The first time I felt the slightest of bumps, the second time nothing, but with the water clarity good I could clearly see a bright silver salmon in the 10-12lb range. Had I not seen it I would have assumed it was a brown trout bump!

Fished throughout beat, one spinning, one on fly, but no sight (or sound) of any salmon, (or even any trout, pike, shad, chub etc. which often fill in when the salmon don't show). Why, when I'm barbel fishing, are there salmon jumping all over the place, scaring the life out of me, when there's not a sniff on days like this? Goodrich Court is a beautiful stretch of river and looks so fishy - but not to be today.

River in perfect condition and lovely warm weather. Darren White caught his first ever salmon at nine pounds followed shortly after by another at nine pounds again form the same spot caught by Wayne Little. A wonderful day helped greatly by Mick as gillie who is very helpful and knowledgeable as well as good company. I hope he has recovered from the evening afterwards! Both fish caught on flying C's.

A great day Salmon fishing under the guidance of Oliver Burch. This is a stunning beat with lots of water to cover. We had a glorious day in the sun, alas no fish but a lot of spey casting practice which Oliver managed to get me doing reasonably well from never having attempted before so very pleased with the tuition. There were a couple of canoes that came through during the day but nothing to bother us. There was an unusually sustained Grannom hatch which seemed to last all day, but no more than a couple of trout rises were seen by us. Definitely a beat to try again in the near future.
