Day two of the upper Wye reccie and another very well maintained beat and beautiful location . The benches in the shade on another boiler of a day where very much appreciated today!
A good number of amazing looking runs and pools and could only tempt the one nice grayling off the top today but that was out of a tricky little pot so more than happy with that and it spent a large part of the time airborne when hooked! Amazing , never had that happen before.
Had one very good trout straighten a dry fly hook and I don't use cheap hooks!
Looking very much forward to coming back and parking at the static caravan site is great and it is easy access to river from there , quite fun actually taking the paths through the ferns to see the river open up in front of you.

A challenging day, dropped several on dries, takes not very consistant just splashing at the fly. Changed to French leader wanting the bug hard on the bottom which resulted in all the fish coming to the nymph. Fly of choice: green tailed cased caddis on 3.5ml tungston - single fly out fished two and three fly set-ups. Takes more confident on the single fly.

29.06.18 Finally we arrived - river Wye. Started late morning.A glorious day. The fish did co-operate few trout and decent graylings. Mostly nymphs and late afternoon Kline and dink. Evening time dry. A terrific beat: good directions, pools well signposted; plenty of benches. All round a well kept beat that’s a pleasure to fish. Very slippery underfoot so a wading stick is a must. Water crystal clear so it’s tricky measuring depth.
30.06.18 Hot day. Strong sun. Water so clear. Fish responded for small nymphs. Great day.
1.07.18 Finally some of the clouds arrived. Still hot. Small nymphs and dry on the late afternoon and evening. Beautiful stretch of river. I’ve will recommend for everyone who want take a break from city. For 100% will come back ????
Thank You WUF.

My fourth trip to this excellent and varied beat and this time a friend very keen to join me- i think he sensed my enthusiasm! It did not disappoint! Another great few days with fish moving well and responding to both dries and nymphs. All pools, pocket water and runs producing great fish and fantastic sport.
Weather was generally very hot/sunny and then more humid on the Sunday. Red Kite’s we’re making good use of heat too. We both had personal bests Trout and a special Grayling for Artur all of which were beautiful specimens
A big thank you again to Shaun and WUF????

I only drove up from Cornwall this morning so didn't have a full day on the water. Plus I forgot my wading boots so was struggling to wade in shoes and wasn't able to cover the water as well as I would have liked.
That said, it is a lovely stretch and I took a number of grayling up to 1.5 to 2lb max (Estimated) But some nice fish and brown trout up to about 14" .
Fish were taken on Dry fly, silver bead head PTN and brassie fished in conjunction with a dry fly indicator and a few were taken Euro-nymphing. The fishing died off in the late afternoon, some weather came in and appeared to put the fish down.
What a privilege to be able to fish such a wonderful piece of water. Thank you for all of your efforts..
