Another hot and bright day, but water temperature ok (about 16 C) and the fish prepared to rise opportunistically. 6 grayling to 14", and 3 trout to 12", on owner Shaun's generic dry/emerger (14) and mainly on Euro-nymph. I'm sure I could have caught a lot more on the latter if I'd been competent.

A second great day the wading is a little more challenging but worth the effort fish came to a mix of dries and nymphs. The heat still making the fishing challenging duing the high of the day hatches coming off in the evening far better

I didn’t arrive until the evening . It’s a beautiful place. Access to the water is poor and it is plain that nobody fishes most of it because the banks are overgrown and the path has been eroded in place. I was using a dry fly but no fish rose the whole evening so I tried nymphs. I didn’t see a single fish. It is primarily a series of old salmon pools with metal stances at the key spots on the named pools. Perhaps a young and agile grayling exert might have done better. I’m 76 and wasn’t happy to wade much.

"Don't forget your wading stick".
Got off to a cracking start with 4 Grayling to a Cock winged dun in the first half hour.
Access to the river around the bridge area is great. I attempted to explore the whole of the beat and gave up on the very bottom of the beat as the "path" ran out on the lefthand bank. Too late in the day I realised the righthand bank on the lower section looks easier to get in and out of but requires wading across the river to access. Next time. The top section is beyond the abilities of this old man.
A couple of the Grayling were in the 2lb range. During one of the casts the bottom was hooked, it then started to move, a few Grayling "knocks" later and it was gone.
Hard but rewarding beat.

An enjoyable day on the river where the owner has put in the effort to enhance the experience, thank you.
A couple of trout to the net and a couple more lost. One on a dry the other on a spider.
