Little fly activity and a very cold wind made fishing difficult today, but a good time was had nevertheless. Lovely to see a few kites overhead.

Low water meant that we abandoned fishing for salmon and fished for trout. We raised a couple of good fish, but none were brought to the net.

Spent the morning upstream of Llanwrthwl Bridge and caught two Grayling best about 12 inches to a black klink, despite some hatches there were no fish rising and saw no trout in the clear water. Downstream of the bridge in the afternoon and in very bright sunshine and with a small but continuous hatch I saw no fish rising nor caught any.
As an aside a few days before I fished the RRA waters around Rhayader and again saw no evidence of any trout indeed I walked the banks downstream of Dernol with my polaroids on to see if I could spot any fish but the river appeared barren. Worrying?

Just fished the morning, river clear, flowing well. One OOS small brown trout and three glayling the best being a beautiful fish to about 1lb caught on a dry Adams Parachute ... perfect. All returned and swam off strongly :-)

First time salmon fishing enjoyed the day, but nothing showed, not sure if I was doing it right to be honest.
