Tried everything…..only two takes in a short 30minute window of fish rising. Beautiful beat. Gin clear, sunny and not much wind. Enjoyable but unusually difficult and sparse day for us.

A local stretch of water for me but hadn't fished it . Water conditions not the best for grayling fishing on this day unfortunately no fish caught ,but still a beautiful stretch of water will be back to investigate more.

2nd time on this beat ( water very dirty and high last time ) conditions perfect this time all be it the water was incredibly clear ! I could see the bottom everywhere which helped , but it was often deceptively deep when I stepped in! . Very challenging stretch of water and I really had to work hard to catch. Fished nymphs all day ( never saw anything rise ) grayling 13-14" and trout 12" all grayling caught on purple PTN.

Heavy overnight rain but river seemed OK in the morning. New beat for so started off at the bottom below the bridge. Difficult fishing down there, deep pools or pocket water nothing in-between. Went above bridge midday, walked too the top of beat noting a few spots to try on the way back, but in no time the river had risen about a foot and thick brown and full of leaves!! . Needless to say nothing caught up there, but fish caught in morning - grayling to 15" and trout to 14 1/2 "

Very quite, few rises, no fish. Having too many blanks these days. I wonder if the people who dump everything than can in the river have finally won. Sewage 1. Fish caught 0.
