really difficult day river level had risen overnight and water was a chocolate brown difficult to fish with feeder because so much weed was coming down really thought a blank was on the cards decided to trot down a nearside run feeding maggots and managed to nab a good chub.

Very picturesque fishery although it must be said the car journey down to the beat is tricky due to steep slopes and narrow tracks. The river runs at a medium pace and the weed is low meaning both trotting and ledgering are possible. However the day that we were there the barbel proved elusive despite us trying most swims in the downs stream section. As a consolation we did manage to pull out some lovely looking and hard fighting Chub to 5 lb on trotted meat.

The river was low, very slow and exceptionally clear, despite some recent rain showers. So felt extremely fortunate to get three bites in the afternoon resulting in three nice fish to 8lb.
Fished boilie over plenty of pellet and bites eventually came.
A bit of work has been done to the access track - thanks to whoever did that.

Lovely stretch of the Wye this one with numerous access points along nearly all the stretch.
Started at the bottom of the stretch on what i thought was the beat limit but was informed that i was below the limit of the island swim. Luckily I only spent the first hour there and managed two really small baby barbel which were absolutely pristine in their colours. A great sign for the future of this river.
A move much further up the beat then saw me lose a decent fish. That's only the second one this season which was hard to take but it happens.
Kingfishers as per usual were super busy and feasting on the minnows around me which is always a joy to see on the river.
