Fantastic fishing on a delightful stretch of a fabulous river. The morning was slow with one good barbel and one lost plus several good chub, but the afternoon and evening were incredible, having hit jackpot and getting constant action in one of the swims which produced about 24 fish on the bank, and a few losses. Many of these were in the 1-3lb range but the best went 8lb 7oz with a couple of 6s and a few 4s/5s. The other swim came to life around 5pm throwing up several bites with a better average size around 5-6lb and a few nice chub to 4lb 8oz.
One word of warning: some of the swims/ pools listed are simply unfishable. It is impossible to get low enough to the water, penetrate the vegetation or cast out in places due to overgrown banks and overhanging branches. It would be nice to see more of the beat made genuinely accessible (and I am not afraid of a bit of clambering / pushing through nettles, but much of this stretch is literally inaccessible) and fishable. It is a long stretch but my advice is to move until you find the fish, after which fantastic fishing can be had.

Fantastic days fishing in a lovely environment. Canoeists were a real pain but didn’t seem to bother the fish. Had to keep changing methods to keep the bites coming. Biggest barbel went 8lb 10oz. A lot of the barbel were in the 2 to 3lb which bodes well for the future. All in all a beautiful fishery.

Second visit to this beat , great venue . Unfortunately I didn't leave myself much time to fish here due to a busy day , only squeezed in 4 hours and didn't catch , had a few indications but nothing materialised .
I had to leave just before prime time , But I'm sure I would have caught If i'd stayed ,
I like it here , I will be back again

River conditions - water level very low, little bit coloured.
Method used- ledgered, bait used - 2 x 8mm halibut pellet

I am not sure whether this is is relevant.
I have seen male American mink with little roach or chub in it's mouth running along the river bank.

First use of the Fishing passport site to book and it is an excellent and informative website. Home fishery is a beautiful spot with fast and slow stretches. I didn't catch any fish. The river was low even after a couple of days of rain. The main problem I encountered was too much weed catching the line and having to recast pellet bait with PVA bag. I will return maybe in the winter.

A stunning bit of countryside, but on a red hot day the fishing was very poor with just 2 tiny barbel. As we like to travel light and wander about fishing different swims, we were disappointed by the lack of swims on this long beat.

Another sunny day on the Wye. The first swim was a slow water glide and it produced two barbel and 4 chub and a big eel (2lbs) but as the day got hotter sport slowed and I moved to a fast swim where the river rejoins after the Island. Very difficult to fish due to the high bank and overhanging trees but whenever I did manage to cast my free lined luncheon meat was taken, mostly barbel to 6lbs and two small chub and another eel. The numerous canoeists did not seem to effect the fishing except for the delay in waiting for them to clear the swim. Lovely place and good value.
