Weather was warm and Sunny, with plenty of fly life. Fish were being selective but there were some good fish moving. Largest fish taken of 1 3/4 lb on Parachute Adams, another very big fish lost on olive CDC.

River fallen to normal height but still running strongly. Trout from 4oz to a pound and a half - all lovely fish.Taken on dry fly. Hackled light brown or dun coloured flies , fished either purposefully to the odd rising fish or more often fished "blind" in riffles. Easily accessible bit of river just downstream of Talybont bridge but much of the stretch difficult to access from Ashford house side because of steep banks and overgrown willows and other trees. Nonetheless an excellent day trout fishing.

This started off unpromisingly with rain and chocolate water but amazingly by the afternoon, a little sun and the fish near the wall didn't care about the colour of the water. One landed and two lost using a dry olive, olive nymph and a pheasant's tail.

Weather was awful, 10 degrees and rained all day. The river had risen slightly the night before so the water was carrying some colour. Not a great day for a hatch, but a few flies tried their best. Nothing much showing so the fishing was limited to exploring with nymphs. 2 trout finally obliged, the best was just over 1lb.

Lots of rain, very pretty beat, lots of flies hatching - mayfly, olives. Did not have the right flies in my box, just a novice. Lots of fish rising, caught and released four.

No fish caught but feel that we really should have given conditions.
I must say that I have fished some incredibly beautiful places all over the U.K but this beat has left it's mark on me. Stunning.

I will be back as soon as possible.

What a pleasant stretch of the Usk with good accesiblity. Weather was very favourable with some good hatches, but the fish were not too obliging even though we tried a variety of dry and wet flies.

Another very cold day, with a ferocious downstream wind. First time on this beat, and very promising it was. Apart from the relentless wind, which made casting difficult, the only other challenge was getting up and down the steep muddy banks. Wading otherwise straightforward. To the fishing: all caught in streamy water, all to the nymph. Best just over a 1lb. Couple lost to a klinkhammer. Steady hatch most of the day of olives and midge. A number of fish rising but very hard to cover given the wind.

Hatches of large Olives occurring as we arrived at the beat and continued until early afternoon. Fish caught in the slower deeper runs on dries and also towards the top of the beat in the faster water. Some large fish spotted in the lower sections but none caught. One very good trout hooked but sadly lost on nymphs in a faster run near the top of the beat.
A very enjoyable day with lots going on and fairly good weather conditions.
Access was difficult at the bottom half of the beat where the banks were steep. Leaving the water was a real challenge as ones foothold in the soft soil often gave way. It would be very helpful if access and egress points were created at some of the more popular runs, with some form of ladder or rope assistance.
