I only had a limited time on the river. I'm a warden at Biblins campsite and it was very busy that day. The barbel (about 8lbs) was caught at first light on luncheon meat. It didn't present the normal barbel fight and, when landed, appeared to have a white fungus on its back near the dorsal fin. It took ages to recover even though it had been a short fight. Apologies I forgot to photograph the fungus
Both Chub were a decent size and did fight as expected. However they also looked drab and in less than good condition. I also caught two eels.
One Chub and both eels were caught in the evening.
I have to say the amount of algae in the river was a real problem. I lost three feeders and every chuck had to be cleaned off when I reeled in. The river is very low which just revealed how covered in algae every pebble is.

Never seen the river so low !
So many people swimming all through the section made it tricky finding some fish!
Saw at least 2 different people on canoes with spinning rods and fishing
After all that I still had a lovely day on my favourite river!

Booked an evening ticket as I wanted to practice my casting. As expected the river was very low but I did see some fish moving.
I worked my way down slowly and upon reaching the oak tree crib pool I hooked into what I thought was the bottom of the river, turned out to be a 5lb carp! I then had a follow in the same pool just off the crib.
