Having been bounced from Titley, tried the Woods. Plenty of life on a good flowing river. Alas no takes but 4 misses on a PTN below a Clink. Access at the upper weir is getting difficult and blanket weed widespread.

River low with a little colour, cool & sunny.
Fish rising and caught 4, 6-12in all on a Duck's Dun, all up stream of the impoundment of the lower weir to the big corner
They seem to be starting Autumn feeding early, a couple were rising the other two brought up by speculative casts.
There was lots of activity as I left, a perfect early evening rise.

Just fished the evening after the heat had subsided a little. Two small trout and one a bit over a pound on mayfly spinner.

Evening session with sunshine and shadow. Normal flow, smasmodic flylife and just four pools on whole beat where rising fish evident. Hooked three of those and landed two about eight and ten inches on dry Adams. Speculative casting was unsuccessful. Maybe a nymph would have been more productive, but a very pleasant evening. Much balsam on left bank.

Warm, slightly muggy afternoon (barometer dropping). Strong southerly wind but sheltered by trees and undergrowth along the river. Alternating showers and sun. Good steady hatch of mayfly, olives and sedge. Some fish occasionally rising but not exactly a frenzy. Returned two lovely small fish (6” and 8”), taken on mayfly, one on bend where stream comes in at beat midpoint. The other in top weir pool. Banks are heavily overgrown and quite a lot of over hanging branches; however, once wading up the river, casting generally ok with a 6 foot rod. A lovely beat and a great afternoon.

Lovely evening in this beautiful beat. No activity in the pools close to the weir, finally saw two 6-7 inches fish rising upstream and caught on dry palmer/adams.

Overcast and cool, river medium to low & clear. 1 small 6in Trout in run-off from upper weir to small sedge.
Very strong hatch of Olive Upright from mid-day, probably male. A few mayfly. Good fish rising to unidentified subsurface hatch which had definite periods of activity.

A quick walk up this beat in the early evening, nothing rising and not much hatching, quite cold. Tried a nymph in one or two likely spots but no interest
