Sunny day with intermittent cloud. Quite cold when the sun was hiding behind the clouds. Stuck with klinkhammer and PTN underneath for first few hours with a few takes on the nymph but nothing landed. Switched to brown parachute Adams and got 2 nice WBT. Quite savage takes. Fish 8” to 10”. Lovely brT

The beautiful weather disguised the fact that it's still early to be fishing this beat. The Arrow was flowing strongly and carrying quite a lot of colour. I fished for a few hours without seeing any sign of fish. There was a particularly vocal and protective Welsh Black in the field designated for access to the beat near the lay-by. I had to abandon progress to the upper section when she stood in a cattle drink and wouldn't budge!

1 x 10 inch trout on nymph - fairly boisterous water with colour. This beat badly needs pruning, please note.

Wet, cold and fishless. Looks like a good beat for later on in year. Saw zero insects and no fish. Tried everything I know but clearly I don’t know enough! The only way is up....

First visit, got through 2/3 of the beat. 8 trout 4-12" mostly the upper end of the size bracket, with another 8 on but lost and several takes missed altogether. River here is absolutely packed full of fish, several shooting downstream with every step. Good quality water, a little too much rubbish lying around. Stream very hard to fish especially being so shallow at the moment, spent most of my time ducking under branches, fish caught where deeper runs were accessible. If anyone finds a net, enjoy using it.

Managed about three hours before the (much needed) rain really set in to make life miserable. Three trout to 9" all to a size 16 tungsten Pheasant Tail Nymph.
