Interesting day, excellent start to meet the beat owner and his wife who were really helpful (and had caught one and hooked and lost one the previous evening!) Advice was to fish an Usk grub/ shrimp 8 perhaps even a 10. It's a short beat but with a bit of application and care I enjoyed fly fishing a small run around Bakers cribb and obviously the run into the top of Cadora. I visited these spots multiple times through out the day to no avail but a rod had an 11lb Salmon opposite on a spinner in the morning. Nice to see shoals of smolts passing downstream when the water was calm in the evening. Many thanks MH and WUF.

14 lbs on fly. Also broken by a good fish when a loose stud jammed the brake of quite an expensive fly reel. Will stick to a plain Nottingham in future!
In the low, clear water a pretty good run of smolts seen leaving the river over the past week.

A few fish seen but not caught!

Saw a couple of grilse, but nothing more. River turned muddy at lunchtime with the heavy rain. There's always next year !

No water. A few fish moving early on...

Very disappointing, not one show all day.
