What a wet day! Just my luck after the low clear conditions. Sadly nothing caught or seen but from the catkins bringing the first flush of colour, the bird song filling the gorge - my time here is always a pleasure.

However what wasn’t expected to ‘breach’ in my swim was a Grey Seal. Have they ever been known to travel this far upstream before? Thankfully the creature didn’t loiter and carried on till out of sight, I dare say to upset the Wyesham beat too.

My thanks to Mr and Mrs Hudson for a lovely day on their beat, ill look forward to returning very soon.

My thanks to MH and WUF for a lovely day on the beat, very easy access and nice looking water. Saw one leap but alas nothing for me- a score I’ll settle soon enough.
Kind regards,

Very hot, bright day with the river at approx 0.48m on the Redbrook gauge, some algal tint on the water. Salmon seen throughout the beat after 1830, but none could be induced to take a fly.
Coarse angler guest caught a large eel of about 2lbs and a chub of about 1lb.
Many thanks to local rod Peter for an introduction to the beat and for sharing his knowledge so freely.
Lovely beat, thanks all for making this available, will be back one day.

1 Chub, 1 Other

Another very enjoyable trip to that beautiful river, which although carrying extra water showed no signs of fish. Alas no salmon on this occasion.
I did however catch a 2lb rainbow (flying c) which certainly got the heart rate up, great colours too.
Looking forward to returning soon,
PVD

Bright sunshine, river quite low and very clear with a cold wind. Nothing seen but an enjoyable day fly fishing the two main runs/pools either end of the beat. Only 1 fly rod opposite during middle part of day. Access along the entire bank with car was fine and helpful to have rods on the car to quickly re visit the pools with different rigs from intermediates size 12's to T14 and tube flies, with some SHFC for good measure! Useful to spin and be able to cast upstream of the Bakers cribb area with a SHFC. Many thanks for allowing access.
