Desperation sent me fishing (stuck in moon boot since March) ticked Salmon fishing as I didn't know which rod to play with, should have stayed home as trying to walk with moon boot strapped to old pvc waders not very successful on the rough terrain.
I usually ghillie for my brother today he acted as my carer. Poured sweat out of waders end of fishing as the muggy weather was hard to cope with. Started at 5.00 finished at 7.15 and I do mean finished. A big thank you to T and B for making beat available in the evening, I will return again when I have had moon boot removed. Also a big thank you to my ghillie for his patience, it could not have been easy helping someone who looked like he'd borrowed his footwear from a deep sea diver.

Such a beautiful beat, everything good trout habitat should be ... but the fishing is tough.

Been itching to get back up hear after a reccie last year !
This time I started above the wonderous bridge and started at the back end of the waterfall pool. Stunning is the word.
Only pulled the one fish up though (a very good one at that but alas spat the fly on the way to the net !) right up at the waterfall itself in the heavy water on a chernobyl ant . Am certain there must be more here , damned deep !
Carried on up and over to the Crai confluence , mostly quite skinny water up here though . The Crai looks very interesting and did start up it for a little way, some fish where rising but it's proper Vietnam style ! Another day methinks with maybe a shorter rod , the rocks here where absolutely crawling with bugs .
Did the later evening a little ways below the bridge , good number of the fish sipping in the slow water so moved on as know what they can be like until very late and down to next pools with decent flow and found fish knocking off well damp spinners so happy to have a few , nothing big though, but still all huge fun.
Be back again soon , it's just all stunning and a privilege to able to fish waters like this .

Fished for 45 minutes from 18:30 after a long drive.
A few fishing rising but very skittish and with the water so low it was impossible not to spook them.

First time on this stunning beat, a really beautiful place to be especially if the sun is shining as it was today.
Fishing was difficult with all sorts of water to test your abilities and I got the impression that the trout are few and far between but bigger than average and very wary...but that may have just been today.
There was all kinds of insect life but nothing in any great quantity, just one or two of various types, I had a pull on a nymph and a good take on a dry but missed them both and that was all the action I could manage today. I get the feeling it would have been a different river if I’d fished till dusk, maybe next time.

very tough day two takes in 6 hours and that was all both from the same pool in the first twenty minutes. fish netted was about 17 inches and the one lost felt about the same. i can see why the catch returns are so low on this beat. there was fly all over the water by 3pm and only a couple of rises . with a little more water may fish better

The river was low but from noon onwards a few fish started rising to Olives and the odd March Brown. All fish were caught and others lost on various Cdc dries and none were bigger than 14". Some of the bigger fish did show thier noses briefly but unfortunately this time I could not fool them. A magical place to spend the day.
