Nice stretch. Strong downstream wind all evening which prevented much surface activity.

5th time on the Towy this year. The Llangadog stretch is lovely water with lots of brown trout spots and a few pools for silver tourists. There were a couple showing off in Crewil but given the water was still low we mostly concentrated on the brownies with dries. And what a day! A few duns hatching and needle flies too … and the brownies were certainly interested! At least 30 to hand for the two of us … the best a 19” clonker , a couple around 14” and the rest feisty and pretty 7-9 inchers. Wonderful fishing! Most on a size 16 grey parachute , All safely returned… including the even bigger clonker James released at long range…

A beautiful bit of the Tywi with decent parking right on the river. I saw several salmon leaping in the faster water halfway down the beat but unfortunately none were tempted. Fishing the evening and night, I had a few pulls on the surface fly but no takers.

Back in search or sea trout, recent reports indicated they might be about. We fished dry flies for brown trout in the day and managed 9 up to 16” months bough most were about 7-8 inches. Tried for sea trout for the first hour of darkness and we saw 3 or 4 sea trout jumping but no luck in catching one. Had to call it a day about 21:45 as work the next morning would have been a struggle. Thanks for making the beat available on the passport.

Fished afternoon through until 22.15. 7 browns to 10” on dries before it got dark and then we hoped for a silver one . Plenty around … a couple of clonkers included… but no takers. Plenty of insect life in the river and a river bank encounter with a grass snake …
