An interesting stretch of water. It's a bit narrow up from the Junction pool with fallen trees and some concrete blocks which have been dumped in the river. Saw some fish but failed to catch any.

Low water, fished at Cothi/Cwrch junction, 2 brown trout (about 6 ounces each), fly/worm. Found Cothi above and below the bridge difficult to access with no signage or stiles to help.

Just one of our anglers caught the 3 fish that ranged from 2" - 4" all from single pool, despite fishing at least 1 mile of river. The fish came to an olive Klinkhammer. There were no fish visible anywhere else.

Hard fishing, probably due to cold weather. Fish caught upstream nymphing.

Had a very very wet day on the river although the water level was very low so I could only really fish the pools. The river is quite wide so the limited water meant it was very shallow. Didn't see any fish around although caught a small trout on a spider pattern. I feel if the water conditions had been better and the weather slightly less rainy then this would have been a great day as the location is very beautiful and its a good stretch of river.

The river was falling to normal levels following the heavy rain and floods earlier in the week. Warm sunshine and cloudless sky all day and the water was crystal clear.
We fished the stretch around Old Froodvale (approx 1 mile downstream of Pumsaint). 30 fish between us ranging from 4" to 12" long on a mix of small PT and GRHE nymphs and small emerger patterns. Plenty of fly life with huge swarms of olives and gnats and the odd mayfly, but only a few rising fish under the trees (most of which took a fly if you could cast to them!) - incredibly quick takes, many more fish lost.

I fished sections of the Cothi both upstream and downstream of the bridge close to the Dolocauthi Arms. Found it impossible to wade or bank walk upstream; downstream became less and less interesting as it opened up into a wide, featureless gravel bottom river. Decided to drive the 3 miles upstream (past the gold mine), as advised by the pub landlord. This section was more of a fast stream but with some interesting little pools and pocket water. Managed four small brownies (was hardly expecting anything more considering the time of year and size of the stream). A little surprised that this river has the status of 'Booking Office Beat' as I personally think it should be categorized as a 'wild stream' and I can't believe it receives many visits. Ah well, good business for the Dolocauthi Arms, where I stayed and would recommend to others who want to fish this little river.

WUF note - This beat is catagorised as a Booking Office Beat due to it being 6 miles in length and the lower reaches are very much 'main river' Cothi where sea trout and salmon can be caught later in the season.
