Love this beat and never disappoints!!! 4 Barbel all very good fish up to 9lbs and 1 chub to about 3lbs. Nothing to really report, just a very enjoyable day out on the river, even all the canoeist were polite and moved to the other side. Wonders will never cease... Thanks WUF more adventures to follow.

River levels normal for summer as judged by the drop over the rapids up stream of me. I fished the section opposite the line of rocks. Water was clear but warm which I think explained why I caught so many chub compared to barbel. All but one fish taken on ledger or feeder, one chub taken on the float. Noted large 10-15lb salmon in pool all day breaking surface a dozen times. Bird life abundant, Teals, Kingfishers, Goosanders, Little Egret, Cormorants and Greenshank. Excellent day.

A steady start after a canoe capsized over our start area with a child going under but everybody was ok and fishing commenced. It was steady going with barbel coming to pellet and a few chub too.
Our youngest member proposed we move when it got quieter early evening and it paid off as we each caught more barbel from three more swims as the sun went down on yet another glorious Wye setting.
I had an otter taking a dislike to me as it swam past hissing after it spotted me whilst working the margins.
One of my party hates them but if you want to catch wonderful wild fish you must share the river with the wonderful wildlife. I love them even if it did go quiet afterwards.
The early evening bats were feeding well on the supply of mayfly hatching out.
Very enjoyable.

A last minute decision to fish the Wye instead of the Severn was a good call. After reading the catch reports we decided to make the long and steep walk to the bottom fields. We walked the stretch and settled on a couple of swims. The pace was very slow and quite clear resulting in one chub between us in a couple of hours. MH decided to walk back to the start of the beat at lunch time and quickly had 3 barbel one a 10lb fish. I joined him soon after and we caught steadily for the rest of the day. Pellets, boillies and meat all worked as well as feeders. River was low so god knows how good it would be with some colour in it. Have fished a few beats on the Wye and this is one of the nicest. Dog walkers were polite and not many canoeists.

Went over the hill and tried the two wood swims very difficult fishing here with the bank access ok if you are prepared to stand up all day, which we were not so moved swims the fish were not playing ball as no barbel caught which is what we came for but caught 9 chub of which one was 5 lbs I am sure the wind had a effect on the fishing plus the river needed some more rain/ water as not much flow.

2nd day of 2. With the fishing not feeding early we moved around the beat and mid morning got into the fish. Same tactics before and tried rolling meat which was great fun for the chub.
A brilliant two days and will certainly be back. The Green Man in the village looked after us handsomely. Will 100% be back. A treat to fish such an amazing river in such a beautiful area.
