Phil and James Bullock with Sandy Geyer from Prestbury and Mike Charleston from Loughborough. We got rained off Gromain yesterday and fished Syfydrin on Aber Angling Ticket for 43 wbt to 18" but that's another story. River in good nick today and fish wanted to play.JB had a plus 20 inch grayling and what is reckoned to be the self same 20 inch wbt he had on our last visit - exact same spot! Cracking fishing all on dries and the first grayling for MC. Happy bunnies all round thank you!

Great day, 3 rods fishing as one. Plenty of fish caught downstream of the rapids in the faster water. Grayling to about 2lb and some nice trout too. Olive jig nymphs and GRHEs worked well.

My first trip to the Wye, river was low and clear. Fishing for Trout and Grayling Czech nymph style with various barbless bugs and nymphs, missed a few takes lost half a dozen fish but that's fishing. The quality of the grayling was superb the smallest 10" the majority 12-14" the best one 17" each one a hard fighting fish, all were returned. Sadly the trout failed to make an appearance. Wading was not easy and difficult in parts, chest waders and studded boots, another must in my opinion a wading stick which is an equally important piece of kit often overlooked. A very enjoyable day.

Quite a sunny day with a slight downstream wind and very clear water. Not much rising, as seems to be a common occurence on the Wye, but fish were active and came readily to my team of spiders. Most of the takes were quite gentle. Caught steadily throughout the day with the fish getting gradually bigger from about 10" to a nice cock fish of 18".

Sorry for the delay in sending our catch returns. Nice days fishing on Doldowlod (Sun 30th Aug) which we found a lovely stretch and fairly easy to fish considering our lack of river experience! managed a brown trout each (1 kept, 16 inches - hares ear nymph / 1 safely returned, 18 inches - Daddy Longlegs) and 1 grayling safely returned, 11 inches - hares ear nymph, all lovely fish. Thanks to the Wye and Usk for their advice beforehand and the good work put into the foundation! Will certainly give Doldowlod another go!

Another lovely day in a beautiful location with red kites and kingfishers for company. Wall to wall sunshine and a low river meant that only one trout was seen all day, and no opportunity to cast a fly at him. The grayling were rising sporadically but were mainly disdainful of our surface offerings. But they did seem fairly partial to very small weighted nymphs fished mainly duo. We had fish throughout the river in the more turbulent and broken water, with a good number coming as the light dropped - until they simply switched off. Most were in the 11" to 14" range, but we had one fish measuring 19" and two at 16".
