With the river continuing to rise rapidly we had limited expectations for much fishing action on the Creel but were thankful the wind and rain was easing.
Obviously our plan was to fish in the slack water but with the river roaring past relentlessly there was not too much of it!!
Some late afternoon sunshine casting a bewitching light on the beat gave us a glimpse of spring and a solitary decent chub made for a rewarding day under testing circumstances.
Thanks to the WUF for all your help over the course of the season and we look forward to better days next summer and autumn...hopefully!!

A very bright sunny but cold day along with a river that was relatively low and clear, meant we knew we were going to have a tough day's fishing. Sure enough that was the case with a trout about 1.5lb being the only action of the day, that said it was lovely to be out in such beautiful countryside.

The river was down to around a metre on the Ross gauge and the weather was mild so I decided to give the fishing a try. After over three hours in two swims without a touch I caught a smallish chub late in the afternoon, followed by two more. Then on the last cast, as darkness fell, I had a barbel. Only around the 5lb mark, but a good end to a hard day. All the fish on halibut pellet.

Like yesterday, unfortunately not a bite to be had despite trying different methods/swims. At this time of year, hardly surprising but a lovely day out none the less. Same moan; more rafts of freshly cut branches dumped in the river and
forcing line to be hastily wound in . I would have thought there should be some sort of restriction on dumping this sort of waste in the river ?

Whilst it was a cold day, thought I might be able to winkle out a chub or two on paste/meat/maggot, fishing in the deeper margins , but to no avail. Not a touch, but a lovely day out. I would like to have a moan; there was obviously some kind of clearance work going on further upstream , fishery work perhaps and annoyingly large rafts of freshly cut branches came down stream all day clearly showing freshly cut saw marks. Surely this sort of waste can be easily put on the bank and burned / disposed of, instead of using this beautiful river as a dustbin ? Perhaps W+UF could use their influence to prevent this kind of behaviour.

No bites all day tried various swims, baits and presentations ie straight lead and feeder but not even a chub to show for my efforts. It was cold and the river was pushing through with plenty of water in it. That’s why they call it fishing not catching.
