Day bright and sunny after a ground frost and river very low and clear. First time on beat so walked the stretch before choosing swims. We were disappointed to find that there were very few swims that were fishable especially from the island down stream where the banks are dangerously steep and access to river near impossible. Two barbel and one chub caught late on in the day.

Anyone else ever caught a 12lb Salmon on stick float and bread? Frightened the life out of me when it leaped clear of the water when I hooked it ???? Lovely days fishing, barbel on pellet, chub on bread/stick and a couple on pellet.

Had 2 barbel at 8lb 4 around 6lb 2 at 5lb and one around 4lb; chub from 4lb to 2 1/2 lb. A great day as I've never caught barbel before. Will be back again, lovely place to be and fish. Fished stretch few hundred yards below the island, caught all fish to pellet and groundbait feeder. 2 barbel around 7lb, 2 barbel around 6lb, 2 barbel around 5lb, 3 chub all around 3lb. Was a quiet first hour, then several fish in quick succession, a lull in the afternoon and finished off with a few in quick succession again. Fantastic day in beautiful surroundings; will definitely be back.

River low and dropping with a hint of colour. Fishing very slow with all fish caught after 5pm. Chub ranged from 3lbs to 4.5lbs, barbel 9lbs. Tried a variety of baits but all fish fell to Halibut pellets. Plenty of wildlife-kingfishers, buzzards and a red kite.

A difficult day, blazing sunshine and a stiff breeze that was a bit chilly. This is a fishery I know well, so after the previous day's sport at Foy I had high hopes of a bumper catch, however apart from one chub in the morning, absolutely nothing until 5-6 pm when the barbel started to come on the feed. The barbel were of average size i.e. 6-8 lb on feeder/pellet. The colour was dropping out of the water together with a slowly falling level and I suspect the sunshine kept the fish away till late... . But it was another great day out.

A very tough day in tough conditions (very bright all day with a strong/cold easterly wind, lower than expected river levels running fairly clear. apart from a couple of hard earned chub nothing prior to the sun going down. Had 1 barbel around 6.5/7lb on last cast.
(my friend who was fishing with me in the same swim also had 3 barbel at the very end of the day with all the fish coming in the last hour or so). If we could have stayed longer I'm pretty sure we would have carried on catching..
