River low, cloudy for most of the day with more sun in the pm. Hard work for 2 Barbel on pellet, at the start and end of the day. The island in the middle of the beat was well used at lunch time when 20 canoeists landed which made the fast run a no fish zone for a long while.
WUF Note: Even though there is a right of navigation on this section of the Wye, canoeists are only permitted to land on private property in emergencies. The urge for a sandwich would not qualify as such. Hire companies are now meant to have identifiable boats as part of their registration scheme. If you come across this sort of behaviour (or any other that is in breach of the code of conduct) and the canoes or group are identifiable, please let us know and we will forward it on to the navigation authority.

All fish taken on pellet feeder, found lots of places to access the water, river was very low and clear seen lots of salmon jumping a lovely peaceful place to spend the day. Followed the access route as shown on the map which involved walking down the edge of a field planted with crops trying not to damage them, surely the public foot path by the church would be a better route. Stayed at Tresseck campsite in Hoarwithy with the New Harp next door great for a pint to celebrate your catch. All in all a great day thank you Wye & Usk for giving us the chance to fish in such fantastic locations

Started late due to oversleeping but still caught well all afternoon, including a nice Barbel on my first cast. I fished the top end of the middle field upstream of a massive weedbed with the feeder on hemp and pellet, catching several Barbel and Chub (including a nice Chub of 4lb 6oz). When bites dried up, I decided to have a go at floatfishing with speci wagglers and centrepin at the tail end of the island. After landing several more nice Chub on 6mm pellet I returned to my original (now well rested) swim for a couple more Barbel before packing up at dusk. A great day on one of my favourite WUF stretches.

Got to the river first thing and had two chub first two casts. Then the sun came out and bites tailed off, became very hot and difficult but managed a small barbel at midday then another chub and a barbel weighing roughly 6lb about 6 o'clock plus an eel. Lovely beat.

Another great session on this beat. Pellet feeder tactics doing the damage again.

Wonderful stretch with good access and views are excellent. Fishing was tough as the river was low and clear. Fished in the fast section in front of island and deeper runs either side of island with pellets/meat on feeder and rolling meat but only two barbel caught by my colleague, biggest went 9.4lbs. Salmon jumping all day. Would love to fish this section with a couple of more feet on the river and slight colour. However, still a wonderful experience thanks WU.

A Blazing hot sunny day, not really ideal conditions for barbel fishing, relatively clear river and a beautiful setting but, only finding 4 fishable swims with safe access was slightly disapointing.
We fished from 8am until 4pm and only had a handful of bites each, catching only 4 chub between us. Would have been better with more swims to choose from, I would only recommend this beat to young, fit anglers who don't mind clambering down very steep banks to fish.

A beautiful day (for sunbathing..). River, whilst a bit low, had some colour. Used my tried and trusted pellet and feeder tactics and had 8 chub out but no barbel showing. Quite a few salmon splashing out. This stretch is a good test of technique and river craft and the barbel are not easy to find but it is a stunningly beautiful place to fish.
