A great day,on an excellent stretch of river. The fishing was a bit slow, despite the conditions looking perfect, but we managed a few fish. Standard feeder tactics doing the job today, with attempts at trotting not fruitful, due to a woeful lack of skill. Can thoroughly recommend the Castle Lodge Hotel in Ross-on-Wye for accommodation while visiting the river.

On arrival the river looked good, not too low with a hint of colour. The fish fed steadily throughout day, chub to around 4lb, barbel to 7lb 3oz and a 12lb pike. All the fish fell to feeder fished pellets including the pike!

First outing on the Wye this season. Fabulous day apart from falling into the river, not done that in years, was very slippy on the bank, luckily was only up to my knees and managed to get out ok, muppet! So wet legs all day but still had a good day catching chub on the balsa, biggest went 5lb 14oz. I spent 20 minutes watching an otter gracefully swimming around, that was so cool. Lovely day out.

The far end of the fishery proved the most productive with 5 barbel and 4 chub caught whereas the popular steps only produced 2 chub later on.
Nevertheless a good day on a lovely river

River looked in nice condition, falling after rain several days before. One barbel on meat, the other on pellet. Weather, calm and over cast
