Difficult conditions, very heavy rain at times and a river fairly high and pushing through so 4oz leads were the order of the day and only close in. 1 barbel of approximately 5lb first cast on pellet but nothing afterwards as the river rose constantly through the day. Lovely stretch just a shame having to hide under a brolly for the majority of it, but you book your date and take your chance. Will be back to get my revenge next year!

On a high a river that fell during the day we found a few swims towards the end of the beat with enough slack water to be able to fish reasonably comfortably. A few small chublets were caught early on before we moved further down the beat where JA had two fish in two casts on a 12mm pellet, a Barbel of 5lb 10oz and a Chub around the 3lb mark.

With the Ross gauge showing 3.35m, I arrived soon after lunch with low expectations. I have never seen the river so high and turbid, but I walked the bank and found two or three swims that seemed just about fishable. It turned out to be a very good session with nine barbel coming to the net, most in the last couple of hours of daylight. All on feeder and pellet and nearly all in the 5 - 7lbs range. Never say die!
