Tough day, early in the morning fish were moving but they stopped when the wind picked up - slightly cold. We missed a few
Fish early on and only caught at the end of HRBP day through shear perseverance.
Superb waters

0 caught not even a bite. Fished Llyn Egnant most of the day 5 wt rod floating line medium sink leader. Conditions were very windy with small cresting waves. Wind blowing from direction of the dam. I fished all round the lake (good access on road side, very sticky bog on the other side but manageable with waders) got the flies into the foam lines on surface. But difficult to cast except in sheltered bays. I used the following flies. In following order morning to late afternoon.
Grhe with gold bead 12, te he 12, gold bead tadpole fly 12; bobs bits (in bronze) 14; black gnat14, pheasant tail 12,
white winged hares ear emerger 12, lovely location all day on my own lovely swifts diving over the lake, red kites, and some hawks. I can understand why they call it the desert of Wales. I suspect fish were deep down.

Fished a little in Llyn Hir be careful if you drive up to the lake as there is a tricky bit of mud on the track. I got my van stuck and then smacked the bottom of the vehicle trying to drive through it on the way out. I was worried I might have broken the sump. (Not the greatest of places to breakdown as off road) if you have a 4x4 you wouldn’t have a problem. Could do with some maintenance from the water authority. Some chippings would cure it.

As Tuesday but only one fish landed (1.25 lbs) also on a zulu and returned. We were last here twenty years ago and had forgotten just how beautiful this spot is. Thank you.

Fished Llyn Berwyn with LE. A cold and breezy day, no cloud cover and relentless glaring sun. Despite this the trout of llyn Berwyn obliged, with plenty of fish between 12oz and just over 1lb. Average size about 14oz. These were all wild fish, the llyn hasn't been stocked for a decade. Berwyn is very shallow in most areas, which may account for the good sport this early in the season. The water has a very peaty stain to it, but that doesn't seem to prevent the fish finding the fly - small weighted leech patterns and coch-y-bonddu/red tag wet flies tied on size 10 hooks worked well, fished about a foot down.

Hot, bright, no breeze, almost no flow on river at Pont Llanio, Camdwr very low, no fish sighted. Tried Lyn Egnant, not a touch all day, water levels several feet lower than normal going by the banks and no flow from the dam wall. All I caught was the sun. Someone seems to have knocked the signs off at the three Llyns, the one for Llyn Hir was lying on the ground all bent up. I propped it up against the fence. The access track before the gate is very rutted and requires attention, I would not attempt it in a normal car, especially when wet. Lovely location.

Lovely day, rain a.m. at Lyn Egnant, but clear in afternoon at Lyn Teifi. 3 trout hooked and landed at Lyn Egnant, 2 hooked and thew hook with spectacular jumps, one broke tippet, four other strikes missed while admiring the scenery, all on dead drifted size 14 dark caddis. Two hooked and lost at Lyn Egnant in bright sunshine same method pm. All fantastic fish. 14 inch, 13 inch and 11 inch landed am, all returned. The one that broke me off at dawn on my second cast of the day, was a monster. Hopefully the barbless hook won't trouble him for long. Great day, spectacular setting. Thanks Tregaron A.A. and Wye and Usk booking folks!
