Nightmare, rod broke after 20min, packed up and went home haha

We fished the the Teifi pools due to the rivers being in flood. It’s a lovely secluded location and has excellent access as mentioned on the website. A decent size of fish was caught on small black flies .

Plenty of daddies but no rising fish, great conditions. Traditionals did the trick, mallard and claret, Invicta, bibio and claret bumble.

Weather forecast: mainly dry with light winds, so Egnant had occasional gales and driving rain. Still a wonderful place to walk and fish. No fly on the surface or rising fish, but the one trout took a dabbler bouncing in the wave.

I fished Llyn Egnant for 3 hours without success. There was a cold, stiff breeze. No surface activity at all.

Two of us fished from 10:30 to 18:30 in what we thought were ideal conditions, temp low 20s, south westerly breeze putting a nice ripple on the water and for the majority of the day cloud cover. However no-one told the fish, compared to last year when we fished in the middle of the heat wave and caught his after fish. I caught 4 fish early in the morning of which 2 were good fish the best being around a pound and a half. My fishing partner caught one towards the end of the day and did say at lunchtime he was going to give up fishing and take up golf. Fished mainly beetle patterns with plenty of splashes at them, although no naturals were seen. But still a good day in fantastic surroundings.
