I used a flying C all day.

5 Trout

Warm, bright, sunny day. Started at Beat 5. Fishing very slow. River looked good but suspect bright sunny conditions didn't help. Only managed one chub. Moved to the house beat. Again very very slow. Just 2 more chub and that was it. Tried a variety of baits and locations but nothing seemed to work Disappointing day. Lots of salmon anglers all of whom were very friendly and chatty.

3 Chub

Lots of reports from visiting coarse and trout anglers of salmon showing throughout the beats. Visitors fishing the house rods for salmon drew blanks on Saturday but again reported seeing plenty of fish. These I think are resident fish which have been stuck in the pools for some time. More fresh water will help.

Great spot this one but the water is very low at the moment. Hot, bright sunshine all day, not much chance of a catch but did every single beat like a numpty!!!! Nice to be out but no bites. Many thanks to Terry for letting me in.

A disappointing day, I was unable to contact Terry over the weekend prior to my visit on the Monday despite leaving a message & 4-5 calls, so I opted to fish beat 5 same as last year, the swims were difficult to access apart from where the cattle had entered the water: this posed a problem of it's own when the over confident young bulls decided they was thirsty, be warned if they are in the field go to a different beat they are dangerous, this would possibly have been avoided if I could have contacted Terry(maybe on holiday as he is usually very good).
8 cormorants & 1 mink visited during the day along with 4 eastern Europeans on opposite bank poaching with spinning rods who I reported immediately to WUF who then I believe was able to contact Terry. I didn't receive a call back to confirm whether they was apprehended or not.
WUF Note: Our thanks to AW for reporting the incident immediately to us. Terry visited the beat (and neighbouring fisheries) later that day but unfortunately could not find the poachers.

Fished Beats 4 & 5 for 2 days, Saturday & Sunday, 3 Barbel 6-7lb, 9 Chub 3 - 4 1/2 lb. Thanks to Terry for the information.

3 Barbel, 9 Chub

Visiting angler John Green Fished beat 5 in the PM in the run into Loxters Pool. Slow start but finished up with good sport on bread flake. Best barbel about 10lb.

8 Barbel, 4 Chub

Good day. Fished free lined bread. All barbel around 7lbs, chub around 4lbs. Bites in the morning were typically rod off the rest, afternoon from 3ish very very shy. At first I thought it was fry, then struck into one and it was a good chub.

6 Barbel, 9 Chub

River dropping both days with all colour going. Steady fishing with bursts of 2 or 3 fish then quiet spells. Rotated between various swims and had chub out of most. Terry helpful as always, thanks.

5 Barbel, 18 Chub

Excellent days fishing on some wonderful beats but unfortunately no salmon caught despite fishing all methods.
