The river was extremely low and clear with very little flow. We fished beat 5 with both ledger and float tactics with meat or pellet as hook bait. Only two of the four anglers caught chub of 4+ lbs each on the bomb. These were caught early in the day with evening fishing drawing a blank. What must be said is that the Bailiff (Terry Ward) could not be faulted in any way and definitely gets a 10 out of 10. We will return!

Very hot sunny day worked against us. One nice 4lb Chub on bread.

Overcast day with little rain, river very slow and clear.
We both tried pellet, paste, sweetcorn, meat and still unable to get many bite. All chub were caught on the float and were under 1 pound.

We fished on beat 3 close to the Salmon lodge as we were only fishing from 10am until 1pm as we had to make the trip home. I'm sure a few fish would have shown if we had fished into the evening. Another fantastic beat on the Wye, thanks to the Wye & usk for another great few days.

Second visit to Whitney. Another lovely day on beat 2.
Had 3 small brownies all under a pound and my first ever grayling that made my day.
Water is low at moment. Not much rising. No sign of a salmon.
Great spot.

The river was low and clear and the fishing was difficult. One of us had a Barbel and I had three Chub, sadly the other angler blanked. Still, I can't think of a better location to have a blank so it wasn't all bad!

It was my first time on a river. Such a contrast from lakes. Whitney is a stunning location, excellent help from Terry. Hope to return soon.

River running low, took 11 barbel & 7 chub, all on pellet and paste. Biggest barbel 9lb 14oz. Great 6 hour session. All fish in excellent condition.

Beautiful stretch with spectacular scenery. We fished beats 4 and 5 which we found easily with the detailed map provided. Struggled on a low clear river but caught 2 Barbel late on in the faster water on halibut pellet on the feeder. Lots of accessible swims to try.
