Spent a great morning on this historic/picturesque beat. Some fantastic pools for the fly and spinning angler to target with every beat feeling like it was going to produce a fish but sadly not. An overnight drop in water with increasingly good clarity made for tough fishing. Will certainly be back once we get another bump of water.

1 Trout

River had risen overnight and was relatively coloured - visibility of about 1-2ft, improved over course of the day. 3 rods fished fly and spinning. No salmon but some good fly water on this stretch, beat 2 being the pick of it for me. Would benefit from more detailed notes given the large amount of water but the beat manager was very helpful once found. Will return when it warms up.

Syndicate member reported 2 salmon from beat 4, caught spinning 12lb and 6 lb. Superb spring fishing conditions.

Ideal conditions. Fish lost on beat 3 and 2 fish seen on beat 6.

The three of us had a great day, nice stretch of water especially beats 2 and 6 if fishing for salmon on the fly. The rest of the water seemed more suited to spinning on the day we visited. One fish seen pushing through on beat 6 in the morning and one in the evening. Very impressed by the WUF team, very helpful, thank you.

WUF note - The access down the farm track to the lower part of Beat 6 has now been closed.

Nothing seen or caught.

Superb conditions, 1 kelt on beat 2. Nothing seen other than that. Coarse fishing seems slow also perhaps the spawning is early this year?

Perfect water level, good fly water beats 2 and 5. No springers seen. One kelt from the boils where the waters meet below the island.

18lb cock fish taken by syndicate member on a rapala, beat 4. River in superb condition. Nothing seen. Bright sunshine. Fabulous spring fishing.
