Lovely day and great to be out again after nearly 2 years! Surprised myself on still being able to cast! Fished fly on beats 3,4 and 5 during the day. No salmon caught but as usual quite a few seen splashing about at the bottom of beat 3 early on and not interested in my offerings, one was a clonker! I don't know if it's my memory but some of the pools and runs seemed to have changed, especially 4 on and 5. Probably due to all the floods we've had over the past couple of years. Still, a great day out and not much of a hatch of "canoeious vulgaris".....Did manage a chub of about a pound on a size 10 Flamethrower tho.

River in good fishing condition. Fished through beats 2, 3, 4 and 5 thoroughly, but no salmon touched or seen. A lovely spring day on the river and an impressive hatch of March Browns after 2pm which brought the trout up.

Hard to hold bottom today with the number of leaves going down & catching the line & lifting the weight into the current. All chub caught in slack water. Plenty of salmon showing for some reason. Saw a very large unidentified bat species doing acrobatics over the river for about 20 minutes in broad daylight... seemed to be catching something the way it was quartering the one area; About the size of a swift.
Chub seem to go a darker colour at this time of year?
Great day to be out and about, quite mild & the grass seems to still be growing.
Thanks once again to all concerned.
