Arrived early pm in 31 degrees of heat with river very low. Went to a previously productive swim (last year) but no signs of life except numerous tiny chub and one chub of about 3lb. Thunderstorm and rain started early afternoon and we gave up about 7.30pm with no further activity.

River was quite low but still a good flow on Beat 3. Fished the left hand bank about 200 yds upstream from the car park using 12mm pellet and feeder. A couple of early bites in the deep water towards the opposite bank and eventually netted a small but excellent Chub to about 1lb.
Left pretty soon afterwards as the heat was building and the threat of thunderstorms became more likely. Excellent communication throughout from Terry and looking forward to the next session.

3 coarse fishing. Morning was quiet, stopped for a late lunch to give some time for a lot of the canoes to move thru. About 3pm we moved back out to Beat 4. Between 3-4 we had the 4 Barbel biggest 6 1/2lb smallest 4lb and then a chub 4 1/2 lb. It was a hot day and we spent plenty of time with the fish in the river allowing them to recover before release. The river definitely came alive as we approached sunset, had some more good bites but no more fish in the net. We love Whitney Court, a great stretch with so many options of where to fish . Can’t wait to come back.

Very hot. No fish. Beautiful beat though if you can handle the canoes once in a while. Many exit at Whitney bridge which is the start of the beat. If possible I would recommend canoeing the beat if fly fishing as can get to the better waters far easier. There are still parts you can get to from the bank and climb down. Some really good faster, whiter water and ideal for trout. Had a lovely brown last year.
