Fished the gravel bar swims on beat 4 and found good looking far bank swims with some nice fast water which we'd hoped would hold some Barbel. Tried fishing in the flow , rolling a bait through and letting the current take it well downstream but neither of us had a touch. Moved on to beat 2 around 5pm fishing just downstream of the island and just a sub 2lb Chub for our efforts.

Fishing one of my favourite beats. Great start with 5 barbel all over 8lb in 6 casts and then the sun came out and the whole river seemed to switch off. River desperately needs some rain as it was gin clear and very very low.
Saw three salmon jumping at the same time one was in excess of 20lb. Spent a couple of hours birdwatching instead of fishing!

Great vehicle access, it is suited better for trout and salmon with shallow runs and deep pools holding salmon which pushed out the coarse fish. One swim was excellent which produced all the fish luckily for me. And no one else in the party caught fish.

Very bright and hot, river v low , all fish came on luncheon meat from a fast glide on beat 4. Saw salmon jumping in pools. Very tough going.

Had a realy good day down at beat 4, lost 5 barbel had 4. Also good couple of chub over 4lb. Although levels are low still had a wicked day see you again Whitney court ???? And my next stop is Wyebank on the 30th.
