Water high and dirty. Cold, with strong showers. No salmon seen or taken.

Spun Loxter's bt 5. Fly fished beats 2, 3 and 6. Windy and wet. River quite high and coloured. 1 sea trout 1.5 lbs on a 2" orange + black (returned). No salmon seen.

Fishing salmon lures (flies)but no fish caught. 3 salmon seen jumping at surface.

15lb Hen fish caught on 1 inch cascade. Beat 4. Very fresh fish, in prime condition. Floating line with sinking poly leader. No other rods on river. First Shad but its still early. Red Kite for company.

Fishing for salmon using lures (flies) and 2 small trout caught and released. 1 good sized salmon (guess 13-15lb based on sight of fish jumping) hooked and played for approximately 10 minutes on heavy spindle fly but lost when hook came out. Suspicion of a second salmon hitting line a couple of minutes later on heavy black, tube fly but on only for a few seconds.

8lb cock Salmon landed on home tied "Archy Wye Fly" fished on a sunk line from beat 3. Superb clear water on a bright and blustery day. 6 superb beats to fish with no other rods on the estate.

Fly fishing using a Cascade tube fly and a Silver Stoat's Tail. Fished the left hand bank on beat 4 and the top of beat 5. Low water conditions, bright sunshine and a stiff, chill breeze. No fish takes.
Superb remote location with secure bankside parking and ease of access to the river. Anglers devoted to their mobile phone will need to drive to Hay-on-Wye to obtain a signal.

Great day out in the sun but alas too bright for the silver tourist!
